Gloucestershire First runs a sector-based Investor Support Programme, aimed at large and foreign-owned investors within the county. The South West RDA, the LSC and Gloucestershire County Council jointly sponsor this programme.
Interviews with senior industry leaders within the local business community are undertaken in order to identify the main barriers to future growth with key sectors. In addition to tackling every day challenges for many of these businesses, we also promote work and initiatives undertaken by both our partners, and ourselves, which are designed to provide practical solutions whether now, or in the longer-term.
Gloucestershire is currently the only county in the South West which is working on such a detailed programme of sector development work, and this has attracted the interest of both regional and government departments, who are able to use in-depth feedback from these visits to inform future policy decision-making.
